Put On Your Merlin Hat Mommies, We're Mixing Up The Most Magical Diaper Cream Ever!!!!

Because a world with comfortable baby bottoms is a happier world, I wanted to share the world's best concoction for diaper rash. I'd love to say it's an old family secret recipe, but in fact it's just a little formula that my Dr. gave me for Emma's sensitive little bum. It sounds very bizarre, but it's the bees knees!

Tonight, when I got a call from my good friend, Lauren, to get this recipe for Ryan, it occurred to me that I should share this with all the mommies out there that I possibly can.

The larger portion:

Boudreaux's Butt Paste

Aquaphor / Vasaline

The smaller portion:

Monistat

Hydrocortisone

This will gum-up a bit and become quite a little ball, so add 2 tbsp of Mylanta and that ought to smooth things out to a paste.

Mix it all together and apply at diaper changes.

Voila! Things will clear up in no time at all!

Now ladies (and gentlemen) these are the big guns, so no need to mix this up for your average diaper changes unless you just want to.

UPDATE: This is what Lauren's friend said about the remedy:

"From a chemist’s POV, the ingredients make sense (well, sort of). Obviously, the base is commercially available diaper rash remedies; Monistat is an antifungal (diapers are damp, fungi love damp places); hydrocortisone blocks the allergic response that causes redness, itching, and swelling; and the active ingredient in commercially available antacids like Mylanta is aluminum hydroxide, which is also used in antiperspirants to absorb wetness. I approve."

Walking On Sunshine

Today Emma and I spent a little bit of time outside. She just looked so summery I had to take a few pictures.

I wanted to take a picture from my perspective so that I will never forget what it looks like to look down at my baby girl.

Getting A Preview Of Summer

After enjoying the sunshine out in the wagon, Drew and Emma played outside for a bit to enjoy the pretty weather. We've had several days of summer storms (which I love, but I hate that the kids have not gotten out as much as usual) and so we took advantage of this morning.
I caught a few cute pictures of Drew playing "Seek and Hide" as Drew calls it, behind the tree. We had such a good time relaxing and just enjoying family time this morning.

Drew is actually not posing here, I just happened to catch him at the perfect time in playing peek a boo.

Oh my goodness. Colin LOVES his bike!!! This morning he took it out (the kids and I followed in our car with the wagon and toys galore to play with out in the sunshine) and we took a few pictures of it. It was a beautiful day and we had a good time.

Cookin' Out Summer Style

Nothin' beats getting together with family and friends at a summer cook out. We had a wonderful time at the Gault / Wagoner (or Wagoner / Gault... I guess I should call them the soon-to-be-Wagoners) cook out.

It was the first time we had been to Crystal and Darian's new house. We loved it! It was the perfect place to have a cookout and we plan on having lots of relaxing summer days hanging out under those gorgeous shade trees!

Balloon-A-Saurus-Rex

Drew loves his red tyrannosaurus rex that the balloon man made for him.

He made a little bed for him in his bedroom so that he can sleep right next to him. We have to be quiet in the mornings because dinosaur sleeps in and we wouldn't want to wake him.

The 3rd Annual Siscoe Crawfish Boil

Another one of Michael Siscoe's birthdays has now come and gone, but not without quite a bang! The Siscoe's (and Horton's) put on quite a shindig for the 3rd annual crawfish boil.
It's pretty funny to have a crawfish boil way up here in North Carolina. A lot of the locals don't really know what to think of it, but they are starting to come around.
Michael had 200 lbs of live crawfish shipped in from Louisiana and after purging and boiling them we lined up with our box-tops in hand scooping potatoes, corn, mushrooms, and asparagus piping hot out of a cooler with a frying pan and layering it on top of our crawfish.
We took our seats under the tents and did some major chowing down.
I was very impressed that Drew still wanted to play with the crawfish and eat them. He did such a great job last year, but I thought as another year older, he might not want them. I thought maybe he'd be scared or grossed out by them, but he loved them. He touched the live ones, the cooked ones and any one he could get his hands on.
After I was finished eating mine, I began to peel some to save for later and he came trotting on over. He wanted to help me peel. He was actually quite helpful. He would "crack the heads off" as he called it and give me the tail to peel. It was quite funny. What a Louisiana boy.
The kids had such a good time. Between bubbles, swing sets, and tunnels, they were in kiddie-heaven.
We had so much fun, I think we're doing it again in a couple of weekends!
