A Merry Christmas Snuggle

One of my favorite things to do this year (especially considering the pregnancy) is to snuggle up on the couch with my family and watch Christmas movies. Last night was "Polar Express" which is a movie that I hold near and dear to my heart because it had become one of my father's favorites.
It was late enough in the evening that Drew actually sat and watched the movie all wrapped up with me in our favorite Christmas quilt. "Hot Chocolate" was our favorite part of the movie. Drew really seemed to enjoy it and repeated it over again the best he could. It was so cute and a moment that I will cherish forever. I just kept looking over at him sitting there with me, my arm around him, thinking that I will never have this very moment again. He is growing so quickly that he changes every day it seems. I know it's funny, but I never want to forget my thinking at that moment. I kept looking at his little head with his little baby hair and thinking to myself "I need to remember what this looks like. I can never, ever forget what this feels like." It makes me emotional thinking about it now. Colin and I really try and remember to live in the moment. Kids are the best way to make you realize that it's what's happening now that matters.... it is this very moment. Obviously I was not thinking of capturing that moment on film, it was way too important for that, but as I'm always thinking of documenting our lives, I did snap this picture thinking of building memories about it today.

"I will never, ever forget these precious moments"

That's a lovely story. I totally live for the moment with my kids, never expect anything to go to plan and take joy from a hand on my face or a hug. Tis grand. I love that quilt, btw...it's beautiful. xx

Awww, I love moments like that! Each one of them is so special, but so brief-but a good life is made up of a thousand little moments like that.

Awwww! Those moments are definitely precious memories. I keep reminding myself to remember those moments, too - they grow way too fast. It seems like yesterday that Princess Nagger was just a cute little blob of a baby, now she'll be starting first grade this year. Ack! I'm still trying to find that 'pause' button... ;)

Happy SITS Day! :)

Aw! I remember that soft baby hair. My kids' hair is wiry now... I wonder when it changed. Hmmm. Maybe I need to live in the moment more.

Great post!

How sweet. =) My mom always tell me that when I was a baby, she would imagine what I would be like when I grew up. She says now she knows (I'm 18), but it happened too fast!

What a sweet post! I find myself constantly saying this to myself...after I've become exasperated with my little ones yet again. :) I love watching Christmas movies too, and it's so much more fun as they get a bit older. :) Happy SITS Day!

Absolutely!! you wrote the thoughts that I feel all the time. Having a toddler is such a short season and I want to drink it all in!

Actually, I think that is one of the benefits of blogging. I take a lot more pictures and capture a lot more moments.

Enjoy your FB day. I had a nice visit!!

totally agree about living in the moment - its hard especially when you're mostly in the "thick of action".

I try to set aside some and consciously enjoy time with the kids. Its amazing how often we're there but not there at times, if you know what I'm saying.

I do the same exact thing! I savor moments with my Theo with so fully that they are almost excruciatingly beautiful, just so that I can etch them into my mind forever. It's so important for me to be fully present with him - he'll be 2 years old next month and this has been the fastest two years of my life!

It's a great tradition many families share - including mine. But I'm out of it. Christmas movies are really not my thing. I'm the grinch. Sorry. That's just me and I'm OK with that.
Love the quilt. I sew felt applique stockings for my wee ones. That's my contribution to the holidays.

What a great memory. Our family loves to watch Christmas movies together as well. NOw that my girls are teens we can usually only manage one with the WHOLE family during the entire season. A Christmas Story is the one family favorite that we always make sure to wait until everyone is home to enjoy it together.

Thanks for the reminder. My husband and I have been changing somethings up in our home in order to create a more family friendly environment. One thing in particular that we are implementing is creating shadows. Having our kiddos with us while doing chores, having fun, whatever. In the process we are creating memories, teaching our children, and tying strings.
Thanks again for the reminder!
